COMMENTS
Between 1960 and 1987, Capitol Records of Canada issued the unique 6000 series of LP records for the Canadian market. The series encompasses the very best of Canadian popular music of the era, as well as an incredibly broad range of the very best European and American EMI artists tailored for the unique tastes of the Canadian record buying public, including The Beatles early and later Canadian-only releases.

Early editions are RCA-pressed (*) with a Parr's Printing (**) sleeve, disc is mastered in Canada. Early editions in loose wrap, with or without Capitol/Pathe inner sleeve. Deleted from catalogue late 1966, added back to catalogue in 1971. EMI Music Canada lists original release date as 11th. May 1964 ** (DISAGREE) The 27th. April 1964 release date comes from Paul Whitefs own records.

The first three Beatles LPs issued by Canadian Capitol (6051, 6054, and 6063) were re-issued at least 6 times between the early 1960s and the mid-1980s using the black/rainbow, black/rainbow with brackets around the word Canada on the label perimeter print, red target (early 1970s), orange (mid-1970s), purple (late 1970s), and finally a «retro» black/rainbow label (early 1980s). Later re-issues post the mid-1970s used an «ST» prefix to denote «stereo».

(*) RCA Pressings:
RCA Victor in Toronto was the company that Capitol of Canada used in the 1960s and 1970s to create the pressing masters when none were provided by Capitol USA or when one of the USA metal parts wore out. Mr. Fred Burchill and Mr. Graham Newton were the two RCA Toronto engineers who manned RCAfs Scully lathe at the 225 Mutual Street office between1963 and 1965 to create the masters for the Canadian Capitol Beatles LPs from the first LP Beatlemania through to Beatles 65. Graham Newtonfs initials (GN) often appear in the run out area of these mid 1960s LPs as well as on Canadian Capitol 45s like Ticket To Ride / Yes It Is (Capitol 5407).

(**) Parr's Printing:
Printing company Used By Capitol Records of Canada.
The Parrfs logo is a capital P underscored by a line under the Parrfs name below it, boxed in a thick square. On the album covers the mention gLitho in Canadah was found to the left of the logo. Capitol of Canada used one primary printer between the late 1950s and 1968 and this was Parrfs. Sleeves printed by Parrfs housed records from the RCA plant as well as the Decca / Compo plant.

Capitol Orange Label / Compo pressings (had a small ring around the spindle hole.)
Type-1) In 1972, Capitol changed labels again and this time opted for the orange label. The first generation had a "gold-ish" tint perimeter print that states "Capitol Records (Canada)".
Type-2) In 1974, capitol changed for very similar orange labels but had a black perimeter print that stated "Capitol Records - EMI" instead, creating the second generation of orange labels. RCA most likely did not print any albums from then on and transfered their jobs to CBS / Columbia and Compo.
Type-3) A "third" generation of orange labels from 1976 also exists, and was pressed by Capitol's new pressing facilities before switching over to the purple label. You can see the new Capitol size ring on the label. Possibly, Capitol used up old orange labels to test their new home pressings before switching to the new purple label, but this would need to be confirmed. Source: Gilles Valiquette.
The orange label offered stereo versions of the three 6000 series albums for the first time. All Beatles Capitol and Apple albums were issued on this label, from Beatlemania to Let It Be, except for Yellow Submarine.
