COMMENTS
This EP, the first piece from the original French discography of the Beatles.
These versions of "Cry For A Shadow" and "Why" were released on record for the first time ever in any country on this EP.
At the time the recordings were released in mono.

This EP was released for the first time in France already in April 1962.
The two Tony Sheridan and The Beatles recordings "Cry For A Shadow" and "Why" were released for the first time ever on this EP.
In Germany and Great Britain these weren't released until more than a year later and then on the EP "My Bonnie" (EPH 21610).

This French EP isn't just the first EP record The Beatles participated in but it is also, since it contains "Cry For A Shadow", the first commercial record containing a composition by any of the group's members.

The EP "Mister-Twist" was onlv released with an orange label and has besides the record number also the additional number PEP 3145 on the A-label.

On this EP, strangely enough, only Tony Sheridan is given credit. The Beatles' name isn't mentioned anvwhere on either the cover or the labels. This is very strange since the record contains "Cry For A Shadow" which is an original composition by the team Harrison-Lennon.

This EP was re-released in France in the beginning of 1964 with the same record number but with a different cover, and with full credit to the artists.

Another difference is that the labels of these re-releases have the number PEP 4437 on the A-side of the label instead of the above-mentioned additional number. Finally, the song "The Saints (When The Saints Go Marching In)" on this EP has been re-named "When The Saints" but is, however, one and the same recording in both cases.
All the editions of this EP have the slow German introduction of "My Bonnie".

A release for the French market, the record’s original release date is lost in time, but a copy of the EP was officially given to the “Bibliothèque nationale de France” on January 26th, 1962, and the receival date was stamped on the record’s back. This was documented by French Beatles author Erik Krasker in his book, “Enquête sur un mythe 1960-1962” in 2003, in English as “The Beatles Fact and Fiction 1960-1962” in 2009.

This famous cover, known as the "dodgem cars", owes its nickname to the photo that adorns the front.
This is a photo of Tony Sheridan taken by Astrid Kirchherr in the fall of 1961 in Hamburg, at the Heiligengeistfeld ("Field of the Holy Spirit"), during the Herbst Dom festivities.
