COMMENTS
Odéon Orange label.
Housed within outer laminated gatefold sleeve with die-cut circular front panel, complete with the rarest type insert for this release.
"The Beatles 1965"is the French equivalent of the album "Beatles For Sale", whose cover has the particularity to be opening, which was not common in the time. This is probably the most luxurious ODEON OSX series.
The OSX 228 had three different inserts, reproducing the famous photo of Robert Freeman, taking in Hyde Park ( London) in the fall of 1964. The first of them is a big sticker (some copies are labeled "ALDOCOLOR SA LAUSANNE" at the bottom left of the back) to the size of the pouch.
It has become rare nowadays , as many fans have followed the instructions carefully on the back, and to fix it on a lampshade or a cabinet door. The other two inserts , most common are cardboard and differ in their red or orange top edge.

1) 1st. pressing with insert designed to be made into a lampshade. It is in fact an ingenious, semi-transparent insert which was designed to be converted into a lampshade.
The thin reverse-printed plastic sheet on the insert was designed to be peeled from its backing card and constructed into a lamp-shade, as illustrated on the instructions printed on the back of the card.
2) 2nd pressing: insert with red header.
3) 3rd pressing: insert with yellow & red header.

Some copies of "Beatles 1965" still wear the badge that shut the circular opening of the front cover.
This circular front panel was designed to be removed and was of course thrown away every time.

"Les Beatles vous offrent
leur photo adhesive couleur
dans leur dernier disque 30cm OSX 228
Odeon
LES BEATLES 1965"
was printed on the circular front panel.
