Odéon Orange
label. Odéon France was changed from a green label to a dark blue label shortly after Les Beatles (OSX 222) was released, then changed from blue to orange in 1965. Housed in a fully laminated French designed/printed flipback cover. Pressed on a custom dark blue ODÉON label (OSX HS 24.001), the only export LP known currently is Rubber Soul. This was an export release from France to unknown countries. *BIEM (Bureau International des Societes Gerant les Droits d'Enregistrement et de Reproduction Mecanique) handles the copyrights for 52 different countries. |
This
is a very mysterious reference which is now run many
collectors. This is a particular draw inch 33 rpm French
original "Rubber Soul" (Odeon OSX 232), as evidenced by the
words "HS" (probably up for "Special Edition"), which is
also found on labels double EP "Magical Mystery Tour" (MOE
HS 39501/2). the content of the OSX HS 24001 is found to be
almost identical to that of the OSX 232. Only changed the
Odeon logo (replaced by Odéon- EMI) and the color of the
label (orange in the OSX 232 blue at the HS 24 001). |

Second Mono (only)
press with red label for domestic released. In January of 1966, Odeon replaced their earlier label with a red label and their logo with a logo that more closely resembled the logos used in other countries. The red label appears on all Odeon releases of the time, but when France took up the EEC numbering in 1969, they stopped using the original catalog numbers on Beatles releases. Red-label copies of LSO 101 through LSO 105 exist with either (S) in a circle or S by itself on the label. 1965 / OSX 232 : First press with orange label.
