Green label and Odeon logo
mark in white was printed above the center hole. "MADE IN GERMANY (circuler)" and 45 in a triangle were printed at the bottom of the label. In fall (maybe August), 1966, the rim print was changed on all Odeon releases to read: URHEBER- UND LEISTUNGSSCHUTZRECHTE, BESONDERS VERVIELFÄLTIGUNG (AUSSER ZUM PERSÖNLICHEN GEBRAUCH), VERMIETUNG, AUFFÜHRUNG, SENDUNG, VORBEHALTEN Roughly speaking, this translates to: "Copyright and property rights, especially reproduction (except for personal use), rental, performance, and broadcasting, [are] reserved." Again for the benefit of those who do not read German, We will call this the "Urheber" issue. Singles made from 1967 to 1969 are of the "Urheber" label style. White-label demos are dated 5 Aug 1966 meaning official release was a few weeks later. 1st. Press: SLEEVE: Picture sleeve. Stage sleeve LABEL: Green Odeon label Type 2-1, white logo and black print Details: Made in Germany circular, Matrix on the left side 2nd. Press: SLEEVE: Picture sleeve. Cab drivers sleeve LABEL: Green Odeon label Type 2-2, white logo and black print Details: Made in Germany circular, Matrix on the right side "GEMA**/BIEM***" :a marking that indicates what company is responsible for the copyright payments for the material released on the record to the proper publishers. It is important to remember that a record with the above-mentioned marking isn't necessarily made in Germany but which was intended for sale in Germany. |
