COMMENT
|
First pressing is Orange
scroll label; "Why" songwriting credit as 'Sheridan' or 'Sheridan-Crompton'. 2nd. pressing has red label. German-made records with both orange and red labels were exported from Germany to Great Britain and were there given the British-made cover. It also seems that the Germans in their turn, imported British-made covers for their own editions. So far there have never shown up any German-made covers to this EP. This record representes a milestone in the fabulous rise to fame of The Beatles. It is their very first recording. None less than the illustrious Bert Kaempfert of "A Swingin' Safari" fame spotted The Beatles in a Hamburg nightclub on the world-famous Reeperbahn. Kaempfert was so impressed with this talented group that in his capacity as A & R Manager did their first recordings. The four recording hit the European market with impact and meant the break for The Beatles they always dreamed about. These four titles are now, for the first time, available on an EP. There were two versions of "My Bonnie" released, one with the slow German spoken intro "Mein Herz ist bei dir nür", and another only in English. This version is slow English spoken introduction: "My Bonnie lies over the ocean". *GEMA=German music authors' society *BIEM=Bureau International de l'Edition Mécanique |
