COMMENTS
The first EP issued was "TWIST AND SHOUT (GEP 8882)", but this was not the first one manufactured and ready for release. The EP "THE BEATLES' HITS (GEP 8880)" was originally going to be issued in 1963 as the first EP, but was put on hold due to the great popularity of the song "Twist and Shout"; so, as an alternate EP, "TWIST AND SHOUT" was issued first instead.

Black / yellow Parlophone label with silver print: Type-1.
Capitalized PARLOPHONE rims.
Push-out center.

On both sides of the label:
The publisher's name was printed in "Sans-Serif" type.
With "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963" statement
The song titles and the composer's name were printed in "Sans-Serif" type.

This E.P. contained four tracks all taken from the first L.P. "Please Please Me".
Beatles own compositions were credited to "McCartney - Lennon".

Printer name "Garrod (& Lofthouse Ltd.)" was printed at the bottom of the back cover.

COMMENTS
Black / yellow Parlophone label with silver print: Type-2.
Capitalized PARLOPHONE rims.
Push-out center.

Beginning in 1964, Parlophone (and all the other EMI companies) began printing a phrase in the centers of all their singles, EP's and LP's, which said:
SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO
RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS,
SEE PRICE LISTS.

The side-2 label was corrected with "Do You Want To Know A Secret" instead of "Do You Want A Know A Secret" in roman type.
Instead of the words "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963", the "(P)-1963" statement was printed at the left part of the label.

Wrap-around cover with a die-cut insert tab cut at the side of sleeve. Round-cut corner.
Printer name "Garrod (& Lofthouse Ltd.)" was printed at the bottom of the back cover.
