COMMENTS		Black and Yellow Parlophone label with silver print: the name "THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD." (uppercase) on the outer rim, the "SOLD IN U.K." remark, and the "℗ 1965" statement. Beginning in 1964, Parlophone (and all the other EMI companies) began printing a phrase in the centers of all their singles, EPs and LPs, which said: SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS. This notice appears on the labels of every UK market EMI product, from very early 1964, right through mid-1969. On 1st July 1965, EMI underwent a merger and each individual ceased to be a L.T.D. company and became a subsidiary of "The Gramophone Co. Ltd." which was owned by EMI. This merger meant yet another label change occurred and previous "Parlophone Co. Ltd." rims were replaced with the new "Gramophone" rims. The mono sleeves were printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd., which may have been the only printer. The word “mono” was printed in medium-sized outlined lettering in the upper-right corner of the front cover. Side 2: The publishing credit for "Act Naturally" says "Lark Mus." COMMENTS		Black Parlophone label with silver print (1 EMI Mark): Parlophone started to use a newly designed label in late 1969. Parlophone radically changed their label design to this silver style with an EMI boxed logo at the bottom of the label, and the rim text arched around the top of the label rather than underneath. The name "THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD..." appears on the outer rim. These mono Parlophone pressings with one boxed EMI logo may have been produced in small quantities and available only briefly before EMI stopped pressing the mono version of “Help!” a few months later. Both Columbia and Parlophone changed their label designs by adding an EMI boxed logo (one EMI boxed logo label) at the bottom of the label in 1969. This design with silver text on a black background was used from the end of 1969 to the beginning of 1971. In early 1971, Columbia and Parlophone added another EMI logo (two EMI boxed logo label) at the top of the label. This two-box EMI logo design lasted for many years. The mono sleeves were printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd., which may have been the only printer. The word “mono” was printed in medium-sized outlined lettering in the upper-right corner of the front cover.

COMMENTS		Reissued in the U.K. in 1981, this was the first EMI mono edition of “Please Please Me” since 1969/70. It formed part of a series comprising eight Parlophone albums, from “Please Please Me” through “Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,” and two Apple albums, “The Beatles” and “Yellow Submarine.” The Parlophone reissues featured reproductions of the 1960s black-and-yellow label, with a yellow Parlophone logo at the top and “MONO” printed on the right. The two Apple titles retained Apple labels, also bearing the “MONO” designation. The albums were initially sold individually and were subsequently included in “The Beatles Mono Collection” box set in 1982 (BMC-10). Approximately 10,000 copies of each title are reported to have been pressed, although this figure has not been verified against EMI production records. The pressing quantities of the individual albums should be distinguished from the reported limited quantities of particular box-set editions. The 1981 reissue label carried the manufacturing credit “MANUFACTURED IN THE UK BY EMI RECORDS LIMITED”. The word “MONO” was printed in the upper-right area of the label. This copy has a sleeve printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Side 2: The publishing credit for "Act Naturally" changed to "Lark Mus. Ltd."
