Covers were manufactured by Garrod and Lofthouse. The sleeve had three flipbacks and a laminated front. The stereo sleeves had PCS 7070 and "stereo" in the upper right corner and red lines above and below the notes on the back cover. On the lower flipback of the original first press of Yellow Submarine stereo does not credit Garrod & Lofthouse as the sleeve printer, but on second press (still with red lines) it does say "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patent No. 943,895". An illustrated Apple logo and the words "APPLE RECORDS" were printed at the bottom left of the back cover. The records were housed in black inner sleeves with a die-cut circular opening on one side to expose the Apple label. These sleeves were most likely manufactured by Harrison & Sons. The original LP release contained the Beatles tracks on Side 1 with a newly recorded orchestral score composed and arranged by George Martin on Side 2 of the disc.

Beginning in 1964, Parlophone (and all the other EMI companies) began printing a phrase in the centers of all their singles, EP's and LP's, which said: SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS. This notice appears on the labels of every UK market EMI product, from very early 1964, right through mid-1969. The text “(An E.M.I. Recording)” was printed on two lines on the left side of the label. The left side also carried “33 1/3” and “Mfd. in U.K.” The recording year was printed with a small phonogram copyright symbol ℗. Covers were manufactured by Garrod and Lofthouse. The sleeve had three flipbacks and a laminated front. The stereo sleeves had PCS 7070 and "stereo" in the upper right corner and red lines above and below the notes on the back cover. 				Some info on early 70s Beatles pressings, one plant was used at Hayes, Middlesex for most of the UK pressings, although in the early 70's there were a lot made by Pathe Marconi in France, under contract, while the UK plant was supposedly under refurbishment, or it may have been due to the oil crisis at the time.

The original LP release contained the Beatles tracks on Side 1 with a newly recorded orchestral score composed and arranged by George Martin on Side 2 of the disc. "French contract Pressing" has two proposed explanations: 1) One theory attributes the French contract pressings to the oil crisis in 1973. Under this account, production moved to France until 1976, with no U.K. Beatles repressings in 1974 and 1975. 2) Another theory attributes the interruption at Hayes to production issues and a building closure, rather than the oil crisis. This account suggests a shorter interruption, from late 1973 through much of 1974. According to the refurbishment account, EMI temporarily contracted its Pathé Marconi subsidiary in France to press LPs while the Hayes plant was closed for work. These LPs were then put into U.K. sleeves and sold in the U.K. The phrase "MADE IN FRANCE" was printed around the label rim.
