pressings, one plant was used at Hayes, Middlesex for most

the UK plant was supposedly under refurbishment, or it may
have been due to the oil crisis at the time. |

At the bottom left of the back cover, the old Apple mark, which looks like a drawing, and the word "APPLE RECORDS" was printed. The original LP release contained the Beatles tracks on side-1 with a newly recorded orchestral score composed and arranged by George Martin occupying side-2 of the disc. The original LP release contained the Beatles tracks on side-1 with a newly recorded orchestral score composed and arranged by George Martin occupying side-2 of the disc. "French contract Pressing" has two theories: 1) Parlophone ceased to release records (in the United Kingdom) in 1973 because of the oil crisis; the production was moved to France up to 1976: so, for example, there were no UK Beatles pressings (re-pressings) in 1974 and 1975. 2) The Hiatus at Hayes, caused by production issues ( a building closure ) and not as the oil crisis ( although the co-incidence is interesting ) as far as Beatles pressings were concerned was probably much shorter, end of 1973 through much of 1974. At some point in the mid-1970s the EMI pressing plant at Hayes (just outside London) was closed for refurbishment and EMI contracted their Pathé Marconi subsidiary in France to press LP's for a short time. These LP's were then put into U.K. sleeves and sold in the U.K. The phrase "MADE IN FRANCE" were printed on the outer rim on the label. |
