COMMENTS
The Beatles 1963 UK 4th. FACTORY SAMPLE DEMO pressing of "She Loves You / I'll Get You" 7" single with original "URGENT SPECIAL RUSH COPY TOP POP!" demo sleeve.

These initial early factory sample pressings would have usually been given out to reviewers, radio stations or used as quality control within the pressing plant.
This particular copy was originally owned by ATV Music Publishing. ATV were a major player in 1960's British music who went on to buy Lennon and McCartney's 'Northern Songs' publishing company owning almost all of The Beatles back catalogue. The company was famously sold to Michael Jackson in 1985 very much to Paul McCartney's annoyance.

Released on the black Parlophone label both sides feature the "Recording First Published 1963" text and have "The Parlophone Co.Ltd. (small letter)" rim print.

"FACTORY SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE" sticker on the "I'll Get You" side and a "PROPERTY OF ATV MUSIC LIBRARY" sticker to the "She Loves You" side.

This was the biggest-selling single for fourteen years in the UK, and remains the biggest Beatles song of all time in Britain (ironically beaten out by Paul McCartney and Wings' "Mull Of Kintyre").

"She Loves You" was the first song by The Beatles to sell a million copies in Britain alone. It remained the best-selling single in the United Kingdom for fourteen years, only to be beaten out by Wings' "Mull of Kintyre," a band founded by McCartney himself.
The single entered the charts on 31 August, and remained there for 31 consecutive weeks. It reached number one on 14 September, remained there for a month, and returned for a second time on 30 November.

COMMENTS
The single "SHE LOVES YOU" sold over 500,000 just after the release in August, after their Swedish tour in October the Beatlemania erupted and the single sold almost 1,500,000 by the end of the year. The next single "I WANT TO..." reached nearly 1,000,000 before the release date. It was epochmaking but Parlophone/EMI hadn't experienced such a turmoil ever before, it has been said that they had to ask some other company (ex. Decca) to press this single.

COMMENTS
Special Order, CIRCA 1974 (Knife Edge Pressing NO Polo ring on both sides)
Rare disc. This solid centre is without polo rings. Note the high mother numbers (this copy has 11 on both sides), in contrast to those copies from circa 1976 which have mothers 1.
In addition this has matrices ending -1N/-1N.  The 1976 matrices end -2/-2.

The Beatles records were never really deleted until the 1990s, they were not being continually pressed either.
It stands to reason that EMI were unlikely to press a handful of copies to order. More likely, they would have run-off several hundred copies or more and held them in storage. Thus, it's likely that back orders at the beginning of the Seventies would have been filled with old stock before new pressings were required.
Thus, polo rings cannot be found on every Beatles single from this time.
However, is a mixture of old and new labels (with and without sold in U.k. on some polo ring pressings.
Around this time there is a change in colour of the Parlophone labels from jet black to having a grey appearance.

EMI installed new presses in 1972, known as the 1400. These were custom made at Hayes, beginning in 1971. These presses left the tell-tale polo ring impression. We can assume that some old presses were still in use in the 1970s, explaining the absence of the polo rings on some discs.

In addition, we have seen those discs (predominantly) lacking polo rings along with knife edges circa 1974.
It is certainly possible that batches were pressed in 1975 to meet demand.  There was still considerable demand for their work.
The 1976 singles, the vast majority of them are push outs with polo rings.

Special Order, CIRCA 1975 (Knife Edge Pressing with Polo ring on side-1)
