The Beatlesf 25th
(official) British single, and the first to feature tracks
from the Sgt. Pepper album. In the summer of 1978 a Hollywood film, Sgt. Pepperfs Lonely Hearts Club Band, was released in the USA and led to a much renewed interest in The Beatlesf original album. The film, and accompanying soundtrack, featured Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees, Earth, Wind and Fire, Billy Preston, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, George Burns, Frankie Howerd, Paul Nicholas and others. Following Capitolfs lead (Sgt. Pepperfs was released as a 45 in the USA on 14 August 1978) and with the imminent arrival of the film on British screens, EMI released Sgt. Pepperfs as a 45 in the UK on 30 September 1978. (from 45 cat.) |
