COMMENTS
EMI UK issued picture disc singles – released between October 4, 1982 and March 5, 1990 – as part of the lengthy 20th anniversary re-release project.

The 20th anniversary set were issued independently as limited editions. They were re-released approximately 20 years after the original 1960fs releases. The artwork on these picture disc singles mirrors the artwork in the Blue Box Singles set on all but 2 singles. For whatever reason, All you need is love and Hey Jude were redesigned before becoming picture discs.

First issue has a card insert with a green apple drawn on the barcode side.
The other side of the insert featured a sliced Apple.
Reissue disc of the "Hey Jude" appeared a barcoded card insert showing the release schedule for all 22 singles.
Catalog number was printed at the upper right corner of the backing card.
Like All You Need Is Love, the actual 20th anniversary release was given a new picture different from the one used in the 1982 box set, although the Revolution side recycled the earlier image. Whilst the black vinyl single from 1987 has an Apple label, this release has the boxed Parlophone label.

These discs were re-cut especially for this set directly from the best tape sources possible. In some cases, directly from the original album masters.
Each disc is housed in a clear PVC wallet. The final 6 discs come complete with their original and correct backing cards.
*Some reissue discs come with a backing card.

The release program for this set of singles was as follows:
  • Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You (Parlophone/October 4, 1982)
  • Please Please Me / Ask Me Why (Parlophone/January 10, 1983)

COMMENTS
20th anniversary 12 inch picture disc issue. Original mono mixes.
Perhaps because of its status as one of The Beatles' most popular songs, along with the new artwork, EMI prepared to a 12" single in both standard vinyl and picture disc.

12 inch issue has a card insert with a big picture of the green apple drawn on the barcode side.
The other side of the insert featured a sliced Apple.
Catalog number "12 RP 5722" was printed at the upper right corner of the backing card.
Like All You Need Is Love, the actual 20th anniversary release was given a new picture different from the one used in the 1982 box set, although the Revolution side recycled the earlier image. Whilst the black vinyl single from 1987 has an Apple label, this release has the boxed Parlophone label.
