VEE-JAY all black label with brackets logo. Includes the songs "P.S. I love you" and "Love me do". Label is an all black with "VJ" brackets logo. Issues with a "STEREOPHONIC" banner across the top of the cover. But this album is counterfeit because 1) covers without George's shadow 2) covers for the stereo issue that list "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You", among the two columns of tracks on the back, are fakes 3) the width of the vinyl trail-off -the gap between the end of the last track and the edge of the label- is greater than one inch 4) the word "STEREO" was not printed on the label 5) ..... e.t.c. |

VEE-JAY all black label with a block letter logo. Songs "Please, please me" and "Ask me why" are added to replace "P.S. I love you" and "Love me do". Back cover lists song titles in two large columns. The song title of the "Please Please Me" has a comma; "Please, Please Me". (The first press without comma) With a square sticker with "Featuring Twist and Shout, Please, please me" on the front cover. First Press (about 10th February. 1964)
One of the three Beatles-related lawsuits involving Vee-Jay in January of 1964 involved the copyrights to two of the songs featured on "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES", namely "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You". In Beechwood Music, Inc. v. Vee-Jay Records, Inc., the New York federal Distinct Court issued an injunction prohibiting Vee-Jay from producing or distributing any records containing the songs "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You". Although Vee-Jay appealed this decision, the company decided that it could eliminate its immediate problem with its "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES" album by dropping the two songs from the album. These songs were replaced with "Ask Me Why" and "Please Please Me". |
