First Press: Yellow and Orange Swirl label without

The first pressings of the record are identified by the "Walter Hofer" publishing
credit on the "I Saw Her Standing There" side of the disk.
Second Press: The publishing to "I Saw Her.." side were changed to "George
Pincus & Sons Music Corp."
The picture sleeves were prepared by two different printers: Queens Litho
in New York (East Coast) and Bert-Co Enterprises of Los Angeles (west
Coast).
The East Coast variation (type 1-A) shows all of George's head, and
have a straight cut top.
The West Coast variation (type1-B) crops off part of George's head,
and have a tub cut top.
The original 1964 sleeves do not have periods in "REG US PAT OFF" (under
the Capitol logo). The reissue sleeves from 1994 have periods in "REG.
U.S. PAT. OFF."
The label, there are two typesetting variations. The East Coast labels
(type 1-A) were printed vy Keystone Printed Specialties Co., Inc. of
Scranton, Pennsylvania. West Coast labels (type 1-B) were printed
by Bert-Co.
Capitol originally scheduled "I Want To Hold Your Hand" for release on 13th
January 1964, but moved up its release date to 26th December 1963. |

Picture Sleeve, featuring the titles and a black-and-white photo of the
group.
Issued only with a straight cut across the top of the sleeve (A.K.A.
East Coast version). Same as photo used on some of the die cut versions
of the "I want to hold your hand" picture sleeve. Known counterfeits sleeve,
photos on one version of fake is too large to include the top of George's
head.
Another fake includes George's full head, but has inferior photo quality
and the incorrect paper texture.
There are two variations of the label of the first pressing,
East Coast version (Type 1-A): the label have their song titles printed
on 1 line.
West Coast version (Type 1-B): On the labels of the West Coast singles,
the song titles are on 2 lines. |
