COMMENTS
|
This album features
recordings from the Decca Records audition held on January
1, 1962. Out of the 15 songs performed at the session, 12 are included on this release. However, the three original Beatles songs — "Hello Little Girl," "Like Dreamers Do," and "Love of the Loved" — are not included. The liner notes were written by Toshio Nakamura. The album has a gatefold cover, and the inside features a collage of Merseybeat-era newspaper clippings. Although the inside jacket credits the front cover photo to Eiji Takao, the actual photographer was Harry Whatmough, who took the photo on March 26, 1962. This is a limited edition. It comes with a collector number and has a picture label. As a bonus single, a picture disc in a clear plastic sleeve is included inside the album. The single is promoted as featuring a "world-first! special Japan-only pairing." This album and the simultaneously released "The Golden Beatles (UPS-677-V)" both came with special pre-order gifts. Customers who pre-ordered received a cork coaster printed with Beatles illustrations and the title of each album. |
