The price was increased from '2/6' in 1963 to '3/-' in late 1964. This was followed by the '20p 4/-' dual pricing during the 1971 decimalization, eventually leading to the '25p' revision sticker during the mid-70s inflation crisis. In the following years of 1976-1977, the price likely rose to 30p due to the impact of further inflation. Period (Approx.) Price Marking Economic Context / Background 1962 – Mid-1964 2/6 Early 1960s Standard: The common price during the rise of the Beatles. Late 1964 – 1969 3/- Stable Era: A slight increase as the music industry matured. 1970 – 1971 20p 4/- Decimalization Transition: Dual pricing used during the currency change. 1972 – 1973 20p Post-Decimal Standard: New pence became the sole currency. 1974 – 1975 25p (Sticker) Initial Inflation Spike: First major price jump after decimalization. 1976 – 1977 30p Persistent High Inflation: Updated price printed directly on new batches.
