COMMENTS
Revolver is the Beatles' eleventh Capitol Records release in the United States. The LP was released in both mono and stereo versions.

The front cover to the album was designed by Klaus Voormann,
The cover has the albumfs title, gREVOLVER,h in black block letters centered at the bottom, with the Capitol logo above the title. As was the case with Rubber Soul, the bandfs name does not appear on the front cover. The innovative cover won a Grammy for Album Cover of the Year for 1966.
The back liner features a May 1966 black and white photo of the group by Bob Whitaker, infamous butcher cover. Although the picture was taken in a darkened Abbey Road studio, the members of the group are wearing dark sun glasses with the exception of John (who has on regular eye glasses).
The stereo covers have the album number, FDS logo and monophonic reference in the upper right corner.
The back liner contains "MADE IN U.S.A. • FACTORIES: SCRANTON, PA. - LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - JACKSONVILLE, ILL" and the RIAA (Record Industry Association of America" logo.
Most of the back liners have a small numeral located near the lower right or left corner. These numbers were used by Capitol to identify where the album cover was manufactured.
Capitol did not fabricate its own album covers. Capitol required the cover manufacturer to place a factory identification number on the back liners. The fabricators added a small number, usually in the lower right corner.

Apparently on account of the black cover, many copies of Revolver do not have a cover number.
(*) All LPfs except Revolver, a black-and-white back slick that does not show any cover number indicates that Capitol or RCA printed some covers in-house for that LP (maybe).

The original issue Capitol albums were manufactured with black label backdrops with an outer rim colorband. Label copy information specific to each album appears in silver print.
When "Revolver" was originally issued, Capitol had factories in
1) Scranton, Pensylvania
2) Los Angeles, California
3) In mid. 1965, added a pressing plant in Jacksonville, Illinois.

There are East Coast (Scranton) and West Coast (L.A.) stereo labels with gLennon-McCartneyh credits.
Later stereo issues have the complete "John Lennon-Paul McCartney" credits, including Scranton, L.A.,  and Jacksonville label variations.

There is a third stereo variation,  that has gSTEREOh typeset in small, loosely spaced letters and the listing of the performance rights organization and running time of each song without parentheses.
The labels also have gSIDE 1h and gSIDE 2h at three ofclock.
This label style appears on several subsidiary rainbow issues, including Revolver.
