COMMENTS
|
"The Early Beatles" is the
Beatles' 6th. Capitol Records release in the United States.
The LP was released in both mono and stereo versions. The front cover to The Early Beatles features the color Robert Freeman photograph that serves as the back cover to the Parlophone album Beatles For Sale. The picture was taken in Hyde Park, London, during an autumn afternoon photo session. On the front cover, the slick is positioned to reveal the stereo logo in black. The back cover slick contains the album title, liner notes and song titles, times and publishing information. The Capitol/EMI logo box is in the upper right corner, with the record number printed below. The stereo cover has the Full Dimensional Stereo circle logo below the record number in the upper right corner. When "The Early Beatles" was originally issued, Capitol had factories in 1) Scranton, Pensylvania 2) Los Angeles, California The back liner contains "MADE IN U.S.A. • FACTORIES: SCRANTON, PA. - LOS ANGELES, CALIF." and the RIAA (Record Industry Association of America" logo. Most of the back liners have a small numeral located near the lower right or left corner. These numbers were used by Capitol to identify where the album cover was manufactured. Capitol did not fabricate its own album covers. Capitol required the cover manufacturer to place a factory identification number on the back liners. The fabricators added a small number, usually in the lower right corner. (3=Scranton) The following tables detail the cover numbers that are known to exist: Compiled by Frank Daniels in 2012 The Early Beatles (S)T-2309
