COMMENTS The Capitol New Purple Label records have a C1 catalog number and usually have numbers in the 90,000s. On the label, the Capitol logo is small, and the text around the edge starts with "MANUFACTURED BY CAPITOL RECORDS. INC.,"
These records were pressed from about summer 1988 to late 1991. This was around the same time that CDs for The Beatles' albums were first released in 1987.

During this period, Capitol released their U.S. versions of Beatles albums, from "Meet the Beatles" to "Revolver," on this purple label.

Because the 1983 "New Rainbow Label" pressings of "Yesterday and Today" and "Beatles VI" were mistakenly released in mono, new stampers were made only for these two albums. For all other albums, the stampers from the 1983 New Rainbow Label were reused. However, a very small number of "Beatles VI" and "Yesterday and Today" records from this time still exist with older mono stampers.

Specialty Records Corporation (SRC) handled the pressing, just like they did for the New Rainbow releases.

It's worth noting that the C1 90,000-series records don't include "Early Beatles" or "Beatles Story." But albums like "Hey Jude," "1962-1966," "1966-1970," and some solo albums were released with 90,000-series numbers.
The two albums "Let It Be" and "A Hard Day's Night" (which has the same songs as the United Artists version) were released with SW numbers, not C1.
Also, four C1-standard albums—"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Magical Mystery Tour," "The White Album," and "Abbey Road"—use 40,000-series numbers, not 90,000-series. All songs on "Magical Mystery Tour" are in true stereo.
The covers for C1 records are known for their bright colors and excellent printing, and many were printed in Canada.

*)Specialty Records Corporation:
Defunct US manufacturer and pressing plant located in Olyphant, Pennsylvania.
Founded in 1946, Specialty Records Corporation (SRC) was at one point one of the biggest pressing plants in the world.
Usually on vinyl from late 1970s to 2000s, denoted by a machine-stamped "SRC" logo in the runout groove deadwax (S with R and C in loops).

*) Wally:
Wallace Edward Traugott
Mastering and lacquer-cutting engineer based in the United States. Wally or Wly is always credited in the runout grooves of the record, usually alongside the Mastered by Capitol stamp.
