Black label with the United Artists logo above the spindle hole."UNITED" is in gold and "ARTISTS" is in white. The upper perimeter contains a series of overlapping circles and solid colored circles in, from left to right, blue, gold, black, white and red.
The bright red background front cover features four of Robert Freeman's portraits.
The following text appears above the photos from top to bottom: "Original Motion Picture Sound Track" in black uppercaseletters.
On the stereo covers, the slicks are cropped with the photographs lower than on the mono covers to reveal a black banner at the top with "stereo" in white towards the left and running from the center to the right, "THE BEATLES - A HARD DAY'S NIGHT - UNITED ARTISTS UAL 3366" in white uppercase letters followed by the United Artists logo.

The Beatles tracks are not in true stereo on ALL UA stereo pressings, only the instrumentals are.
United Artists received a tape containing the mono masters of the 8 Beatles songs intended for the film on or about 10th. June 1964. Because the company wanted to release its album as soon as possible, it decided not to wait for stereo mixes of the songs. So, the Beatles songs appearing on the United Artists stereo album are fake stereo.

First pressings of the album were issued with covers listing "This Boy" as the only song published solely by Maclen. Corp. Later cover, credits "This Boy" and "I Cry Instead" to Maclen Music (BMI).
Song title of the back over, "I'll Cry Instead" is mistitled "I Cry Instead". All copies have the title incorrect on the cover.

United Artists did not have its own pressing factories. The label contracted with five companies to manufacture records for "A Hard Day's Night".
    1) Columbia Records
    2) H.V. Waddell Co.
    3) RCA
    4) Monarch Records
    5) Unidentified factory (maybe Bestway Products, Mountainside, New Jersey)

    Type-1) Columbia Records Press:
Manufactured album for East Coast distribution.
The bolded album title and "Original Motion Picture Sound Track" are approximately the same height.
    There are two variations;
    > Mono: "I Cry Instead"
    > Stereo: "I Cry Instead"
All copies have "I Cry Instead" (maybe). No Columbia "I'll Cry Instead" labels have been confirmed.
    Type-2) H.V. Waddell Co. Press:
Pressed many of the West Coast albums.
The album title and "Original Motion Picture Sound Track" are equal length on the Waddell discs.
    There are many variations:
    > Mono: "I Cry Instead"
    > Mono: "I'll Cry Instead"
    > Stereo: "I Cry Instead"
    > Stereo: "I'll Cry Instead"
    Type-3) RCA Press:
UA also hired RCA to manufacture copies of the album (mono only).
The song titles and running times are left margin justified. In addition, the RCA labels have an identification number "RP4M-0474/0475 on mono" printed below the catalog number to the right of the center hole.
NO RCA "I'll Cry Instead" labels have been confirmed.
    There are slight variations:
Type-3-1) RCA Indianapolis: Song title fonts are Sans-Serif type
Type-3-2) RCA Rockaway: Song title fonts are Roman type
Type-4) Monarch Records in L.A. was later hired to press copies of the album.
The song titles are centered and there are no running times.
    > Mono: "I'll Cry Instead"
    > Stereo: "I'll Cry Instead"
NO Monarch "I Cry Instead" labels have been confirmed.
Type-5) Unidentified factory (maybe Bestway Products, Mountainside, New Jersey)
Similar to the Columbia pressings, except that "THE BEATLES" is spaced looser and is taller than it is on the Columbia labels.
Only mono pressings with "I Cry Instead" have been confirmed.
