First Press: Orange and
yellow swirl label without "subsidary" print. The picture sleeve features a photo of the group standing on a beach in the Bahamas taken by Robert Freeman during the filming of HELP! The upper box of the sleeve has a black background with "THE BEATLES" in blue. The title of the featured song on each side of the sleeve appears to the left in red. The Capitol logo and catalogue number 5476 appear in black below the black box in the upper right corner of the photo. Nearly all of the Capitol Beatles' records were pressed by Capitol on both the East Coast and the West Coast. 1) East Coast singles pressed with labels printed by Keystone Printed Specialities Co., Inc. of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Picture sleeve: issued in straight cut top. In 1968, as part of a
corporate restructuring of Capitol and EMI, Capitol Records,
Inc. became a wholly owned subsidiary of a new entity known
as Capitol Industries, Inc. The decision was made to identify the new arrangement on subsequent Capitol releases. This required the reprinting of 45 and album labels to reflect the new ownership. For single releases, the perimeter print was changed to “MFD. BY CAPITOL RECORDS, INC., A SUBSIDIARY OF CAPITOL INDUSTRIES, INC., U.S.A.” There are four basic variations of the subsidiary swirls: (1) Keystone labels with black perimeter print (Scranton) (2) Keystone labels with white perimeter print (Scranton) (3) Bert-Co labels with white perimeter print (Los Angeles) (4) Small print labels with white perimeter print (usually Los Angeles) The black perimeter print was used on labels printed from mid-August 1968 through mid-October 1968, at which time white perimeter print was used through April 1969.
