COMMENTS | Released to help promote
the double album "Rock 'n' Roll Music". The promotional record has white EMI/ Odeon label. The words "Sample / Not For Sale" was printed at the left side on the label. The release date is in black appears at the right side. The phrase "(from the LP 'ROCK 'N' ROLL MUSIC' EAS-77009/10)" was printed at the left side of the center hole. Picture sleeve issue with lyric & discography insert. Whilst other territories that released this single (e.g. the USA for one) had Got To Get You Into My Life as the A Side and Helter Skelter as the B Side, the Japanese release reversed the tracks. In addition the other releases used a sleeve mirroring that of the compilation album, but this was not the case here. Toshiba had already begun use of the new EMI/Odeon label as early as 1976 on certain new releases not covered under the Apple label. By the early 1980's, the EMI/Odeon label had completely supplanted the Apple label on all Beatles releases. When the record label change, the EMI/Odeon logo also replaced the Apple logo on the front sleeves of all records. |
