Polydor Promotional
White label with blue half-circle logo. In Japan, promotional records have traditionally been provided at no charge to radio stations, record shops, and the mass media to increase the sales of a record or in some cases to promote a tour. There are two types of promotional releases. Type-1: This type is called the white label promo for which a unique label has been made. The label design of Polydor white label singles is very similar to that of regular commercial Odeon singles. The promo version, however, features the perimeter print, Odeon logo, and circled text in blue and all other printing in black. The words "Sample" and "Not for sale" were printed in blue on the label. Most usually, the regular cover is used with appropriate alterations to prohibit commercial sale. Type-2: The second type of promo record is less elaborate and is called a sticker promo. It is simply a regular commercial release that has a promo sticker affixed to the cover. On label, look for an absence of the "BIEM" logo. "¥ 330" was printed at the upper right corner of the front cover. "Manufactured by Nippon Gramophon Co., Ltd., Japan" was printed at the back cover. Beatles do the A side without Tony Sheridan, B side is him singing with Beatles as the backing band, the Beat Brothers, recorded 1961. B side title, Take out some insurance on me baby, is in small print under the regular title. Generally the Take out some Insurance title was used in the US, and the other title in all other countries. This version has the "goddamned insurance" verse near the end. It is the original “German” version. The US Atco version edited the curse out. Side 1:Credited to "The Beatles" Side 2:Credited to "The Beatles with Tony Sheridan" Ain't She Sweet: Lead Vocal: John Lennon, Back Play: The Beatles
Lead Vocal: John Lennon, Back Play: The Beatles
