COMMENTS | The Capitol New Purple Label records have
a CLJ catalog number and usually have numbers in the
40,000s. On the label, the Capitol logo is small, and the
text around the edge starts with "MANUFACTURED BY CAPITOL
RECORDS. INC.," 1988-90 pressing of Capitol’s series of their earlier UK album catalog, first issued in 1987 for the first time in the US (outside the Mo-Fi limited editions), matching their CD counterparts (and using the same catalog numbers). Digital masters were used in these pressings. Original run, catalog # of CLJ-46441 (seen on spine, lower left back cover and labels). Capitol Rainbow/colorband label design with the Parlophone logo on the left side of label above the “1” and “2”. Capitol oval and EMI rectangle logos along the bottom back. UPC on the back is square in shape. Most copies came with a 2” round red sticker stating “DIGITALLY REMASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL BRITISH CATALOG” with the album title, cat # and Printed in U.S.A. Pressed at Allied Record Co as identified by what looks like a large ɑ (but is really a lower case "a" with a tail, Allied's logo) in the run out. *) Allied Record Record pressing plant / cassette and CD manufacturer in Los Angeles, California. Operating under this name from 1962 until the end of 1996. |
