Released
around the same time as Version Two of Introducing The
Beatles in February 1964, The Beatles & Frank Ifield On
Stage contained four songs by the Beatles and eight songs by
Frank Ifield. The albumfs front cover features a drawing of a mustached English statesman holding a pair of spectacles. A Beatles wig has been placed on his head. The top of the cover has the phrase "Jolly What!" in an attempt to give the album the proper British atmosphere. The back cover to The Beatles & Frank Ifield On Stage reveals that only four Beatles songs are included on the album. The text on the albumfs back cover was written by Muriel Gaynor, a Vee-Jay employee who handled production matters and assisted Jay Lasker. The liner notes were sent by telegram to George S. Whiteman Graphic Design on January 10, 1964, for preparation of the back cover slicks. 1) First Press: Has a black label with an oval logo and outer rim colorband with left justified artist-only credits, the album number VJLPS 1085 and "STEREO" at 3 ofclock. Its trail off areas include the following hand-etched markings: the matrix number 64-3852S on SIDE 1 and 64-3853S on SIDE 2; the job number ∆6298 on SIDE 1 and ∆6298X on SIDE 2; the date 1-21-64 on SIDE 1 and 1-26-64 on SIDE 2; and the initials "RA" on both sides. Both sides also contain the machine stamped (MR) and Audio Matrix logos. This disc was manufactured by Monarch. 2) Second Press: Has a black label featuring a large white brackets logo with an outer rim colorband. There are two variations of this brackets label. Type-2-1)With its centered artist and songwriter credits, album number VJLP 1085 and printing of "Long Playing" and "Microgroove" on the label, has typesetting identical to that of VJ 1085.MR2A, except for the appearance of "STEREO" at 12 ofclock. The matrix number and the initials "RA" are hand-etched in the trail off areas, which also contain the Audio Matrix stamp logo. Although the "ARP" logo does not appear, the record and the labelfs typesetting indicate that this discs was pressed by ARP. Type-2-2) Featuring left justified artist-only credits and the album number VJLPS 1085. The words "Long Playing" and "Microgroove" do not appear and the word "STEREO" is located a 3 ofclock; however, "STEREO" is slightly smaller on SR2B than on SR1.
