COMMENTS
First Press: Orange and yellow swirl label without "subsidary" print.
The picture sleeve for the Capitol single features a cropped version of the Robert Freeman color photograph that sarved as the cover for the U.K. album "Beatles For Sale". The picture was taken during an autumn afternoon photo session in Hyde Park.
The upper box of the sleeve has an orange background with "THE BEATLES" in white and both song titles, catalogue number 5555 and the Capitol logo in yellow.
"We Can Work It Out" is listed above "Day Tripper" on both sides of the sleeve.

The initial pressings of the record were manufactured with labels printed prior to Capitol knowing the running time of the songs. Thus, these labels do not contain the time of songs. Later pressings of the record contain the running time.

Nearly all of the Capitol Beatles' records were pressed by Capitol on both the East Coast and the West Coast.

COMMENTS
In 1968, as part of a corporate restructuring of Capitol and EMI, Capitol Records, Inc. became a wholly owned subsidiary of a new entity known as Capitol Industries, Inc.

The decision was made to identify the new arrangement on subsequent Capitol releases. This required the reprinting of 45 and album labels to reflect the new ownership.

For single releases, the perimeter print was changed to “MFD. BY CAPITOL RECORDS, INC., A SUBSIDIARY OF CAPITOL INDUSTRIES, INC., U.S.A.”

There are four basic variations of the subsidiary
swirls:
(1) Keystone labels with black perimeter print (Scranton)
(2) Keystone labels with white perimeter print (Scranton)
(3) Bert-Co labels with white perimeter print (Los Angeles)
(4) Small print labels with white perimeter print (usually Los Angeles / Jacksonville)

The black perimeter print was used on labels printed from mid-August 1968 through mid-October 1968, at which time white perimeter print was used through April 1969.
