| The Russian sleeve adapts the
original British collage with changes to its lettering and
portraits. Nikolai Kibalchich added his own face and that of Andrei Tropillo, and replaced Karl Marx with Kolya Vasin. The comparisons below show the positions of these changes. |

Andrei Tropillo — added. A portrait of Andrei Tropillo, founder of the AnTrop record label, was inserted near the top of the collage, between Edgar Allan Poe and Fred Astaire. He was not a replacement for a named person in the original artwork. |

| COMMENTS | RELEASE BACKGROUND / COMMENTS In 1992, AnTrop issued Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band with Revolver in a gatefold two-LP set (first release recorded as 12th May 1992). The two albums were subsequently released separately in 1994. The single sleeve was adapted from one half of the original gatefold; the layout of the Russian track list, AnTrop logo, copyright notice, and spine was revised. The record has the original U.K. album's 13-track program, in the same sequence. The reference discography attributes the single-LP pressings to the former Melodiya Riga plant in Latvia, operating under the RITONIS name. The exact manufacture date of this copy has not been established. Although this record was commercially issued by AnTrop in Russia, the classification of the local release does not in itself demonstrate licensing from EMI or Apple Corps. JACKET & ARTWORK The front cover is a modified version of the original British Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band collage, designed by Peter Blake and Jann Haworth and photographed by Michael Cooper. The central bass drum carries the Russian album title: «ОРКЕСТР КЛУБА ОДИНОКИХ СЕРДЕЦ СЕРЖАНТА ПЕППЕРА». Three alterations to the group of portraits have been documented:
The back cover shows a cropped photograph of two Beatles, a Russian track listing and running times, the English artist name “THE BEATLES”, a “СТЕРЕО” designation, and an AnTrop-associated © 1992 notice. The outer sleeve is made of thick cardboard, laminated on both front and back. BACK COVER & SPINE VARIATIONS Earlier sleeve variation A-1 / Spine variation 1. This copy carries the incorrect catalog number “П91 00119” on both the back cover and spine. The correct album catalog number is “П91 00117”; П91 00119 refers to the companion Revolver record in the original two-LP set. On the documented A-2 sleeve variation, the catalog number was corrected to П91 00117. The progression from an incorrect number to a corrected one makes A-1 the likely earlier sleeve, but the precise printing dates and pressing sequence remain undocumented. LABEL DETAILS The disc has white AnTrop labels with violet print. Each label carries the AnTrop emblem with the Latin motto “Consummari in unum” and the name “St. Petersburg”. The center design features the large violet numerals “7 8 9” and “9 8 7” with concentric circles. “THE BEATLES” is printed in English. The album title and songs are listed in Russian, without individual composer credits. “На английском языке” (In English) and “Запись по трансляции” (Recorded from a broadcast) are printed at the bottom of the labels. The latter is a label statement, not independent proof of the actual source used for the master. Side 1 carries П91 00117 (32121) and Side 2 carries П91 00118 (32122). Both labels state STEREO 33. No ℗ publication year is printed on either label. As on the UK pressing, the “Sgt. Pepper Inner Groove” at the end of Side 2 repeats continuously until the stylus is lifted. INNER SLEEVE DETAILS This copy includes a blue-printed RITONIS illustrated wrap-around inner sheet depicting a historical view of Riga. The picture and RITONIS logo are printed on one side only of a single sheet of coarse, uncoated, straw-paper-like stock. The sheet is folded in half and the record is placed between the two halves; it is not a glued envelope-style inner sleeve. Other print colors, including green, are documented. The oval emblem and the © 1992 credit on the back cover are associated with the Production Center of the Rock-and-Roll Parishes of the United Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Russia, established by Andrei Tropillo in 1991. The organization was connected with AnTrop's record-production activities in St. Petersburg. According to Tropillo, records were manufactured by Melodiya under special arrangements, while the Lutheran Church was responsible for the sleeves. The arrangement was also connected with the copyright conditions prevailing in Russia at the time. The production center's name and emblem reflect this unusual relationship between the Lutheran Church and AnTrop's releases of Western rock music.
