Toshiba Musical Industries was the company
that released Beatles records in Japan during the 1960s,
using the Odeon label. The company also released several
EPs, a format that is longer than a single but shorter
than an LP. Most of these EPs followed the content of the official UK releases, although some were unique to the Japanese market. Each EP usually contained four tracks and came in a paper sleeve featuring original artwork and design. Many also included an obi (a paper strip wrapped around the cover) and a lyric sheet. These Japanese EPs were carefully made and are still popular with collectors today. |
