Instead of the words "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1964", the "(P)-1964" statement was printed at the left part of the label. Printer name "6504 Buckland" was printed at the bottom of the back cover. Sleeves printed by Buckland Press have flaps with a diagonal cut on the spine side. (*)Buckland Printers: They are a third printing company that EMI contracted alongside Garrod and Lofthouse specifically for the production of EP covers since the overflaps are completely different to the G & L design; they're smaller and squared off whilst the G & L overflaps are thick and rounded. The BuPr sleeves are also found on the original presses so perhaps they were contracted in because G & L's EP sleeve printers couldn't handle the huge surge in demand? Perhaps BuPr were asked to help with production during this huge increase in demand. |

COMMENTS
|
The Beatles' 8th E.P. This is an original and very scarce U.K. mono vinyl EP for Beatles For Sale, this rare variant has the PARLOPHONE CO. LTD. label rim, the circled P date 1964 and "MADE IN Gt. BRITAIN" label text, and the "Sold in U.K." label print, and a "KT" tax code on the side2 label, and has a very rare Solid Center. The Parlophone wording on side-1 appears to be orange in color, rather than the usual yellow, the side-2 label Parlophone logo is the correct and usual Yellow color. (*) According to "Record Collector - Rare Record Price Guide 2012", 1967: Known Second Pressing: Beatles For Sale (GEP 8931) with "The Parlophone Co. Ltd" label text; Solid centre. |
