COMMENTS

In the U.K, the
"Magical Mystery Tour" soundtrack was released as a special
double E.P. package. As The Beatles had six songs for release, it was decided that they would release a double-EP set. The package came with a gatefold sleeve and a 28-page book, including lyrics. For the only time, the original labels were not standard EP labels. Gone was the yellow ink on top, the logo was smaller, and the term "EXTENDED PLAY" was gone from under the "45 R.P.M." Even the matrix prefix was the one used for the singles catalog (7YCE) instead of the one used for EP's (7TCE). And most unusually, the set was available in both mono and stereo. Both the front and back covers were laminated, and inner pockets held the two 7 inch EP disks. A 24 page book, plus a sheet of lyrics, was stapled into the middle. The lyric sheet was on light blue paper, and later issue was changed on yellow paper. At the inner pocket, the old Apple mark, which looks like a drawing, and the word "Apple Presents" was printed. Beginning in 1964, Parlophone (and all the other EMI companies) began printing a phrase in the centers of all their singles, EP's and LP's, which said: SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS. This notice appears on the labels of every UK market EMI product, from very early 1964, right through mid-1969. This single was manufactured two ways: both with and without the push-out center. The first pressing type-1 have (1) Silver Parlophone label (1)capitalized "THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD." rims (2)publisher's name: 3 lines (3) "(P) 1967" statement (4) The credit "Magical Mystery Tour" was printed in lowercase on the label. |

In the U.K, the
"Magical Mystery Tour" soundtrack was released as a special
double E.P. package. As The Beatles had six songs for release, it was decided that they would release a double-EP set. The package came with a gatefold sleeve. A Part Of 1981 EP Box Set pressing. Have a black inner sleeve. Black label with silver logo and silver print. "The Gramophone Co. Ltdc" printed at the start perimeter print. The publishing year printed as g℗ 1967. The "Sold in U.K." text has erased from the label. The publishing year printed as g℗ 1967. Duble numbering matrix (mono & stereo) on labels. and solid center. A 24 page book, plus a sheet of lyrics, was stapled into the middle. The lyric sheet was on Orange paper. |
