This issue has a sleeve made by Garrod & Lofthouse. On the sleeve: Track-3 on Side 2 title is corrected: spelled "YOU REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME". Early 1964. On the side 2 label the end of the song title “I Wanna Be Your Man” was shifted along enough so that its full credits appeared on one line rather than breaking in the middle of “Northern Songs”. Because of this, “Devil In Her Heart” and “Not A Second Time” both now started on new lines rather than being broken in the middle. |

The publishing credit for "Money" now says "Dominion, Belinda (Ldn.) Ltd." Back in the 60's EMI had a limited record pressing power, and the Beatles were so popular that they simply could not cope with the demand that the fans were putting on them to get the copies out and into the shops. Purchases meant profit, and fans having to wait for EMI to catch up with demand meant a loss of earnings. Because of this, EMI decided to approach rival production companies (etc. Decca) with batch orders for them to press to help keep on top of things. Decca contract pressing: these are distinguishing characteristics Decca: 1: There is no tax code around the center hole on either side of the disk. 2: There's a light ridge that runs around approximately 5mm out from the center hole. This ridge is also 41mm in from the edge of the label. 3: The most prominent groove, which is a typical characteristic of Decca LP presses is approximately 31mm out from the center hole and 15mm in from the edge of the label. 4: There is no tax code stamped at the 12 o'clock position. 5: The mother plate number (either single or double figured) is at the 9 o'clock position. There is no tx code stamped above it. 6: The contract pressings did NOT utilise the BUCKINGHAM stamper codes, so there are no such letters at the 3 o'clock position. 7: The matrix number is stamped at the 6 o'clock position in the deadwax. Due to the exceptional
demand for this LP on release in 1963 EMI contracted rival
firm's pressing plants to press copies of this album. The
best known of these 'contract pressings' are of the Decca
variety, however this less well-known & harder to find
"contract pressing" was made by PYE Records. Noticeable differences between the two are; the edge of the Pye pressed disc has a much "flatter" edge than the EMI pressing and the label is also slightly raised from the surface of the disc. Also, the mother/stamper codes in the run-outs are different to EMI's. This copy of a PYE contract-pressing dates from late 1963 and is on the standard black and yellow Parlophone label with silver print: the name "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD.(capital letter)" on the outer rim, and the "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963" statement was added. The word "mono", on upper right of the front cover, is large. Sleeves for "With The Beatles (mono)" did two London’s of printing house: Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd. and Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. This pressing has a sleeve made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Both Cover and Side 2 labeling are corrected: Track 3 now spelled "YOU REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME". The publishing credit for "Money" now says "Dominion, Belinda (Ldn.) Ltd." |

Parlophone label with silver print: the name "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD.(capital letter)" on the outer rim, and the "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963" statement was added. The word "mono", on upper right of the front cover, is small type. Sleeves for "With The Beatles (mono)" did two London’s of printing house: Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd. and Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. This issue has a sleeve made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Same as first pressing, except the Side 2 labelling is corrected: Track 3 now spelled "YOU REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME". The publishing credit for "Money" now says "Dominion, Belinda (Ldn.) Ltd." By the time this pressing hit the shops, the Beatles had just released the 'White Album' and this album was totally obsolete to Beatles fans. However, EMI kept the faith with it and the almost dead mono format, issuing it to a largely uninterested public in late 1968. This fabulously rare final mono edition is on the familiar black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1206 Both labels bear all the hallmarks of regular mono post-1963 mono pressings, except for a light ridge around the edge of both labels which is a unique feature seen only on these final pressings.
