Capitol Records: 1978 Reissue Capitol Purple (Large Dome) Label [1978#2-1982] |
1979> |
When Capitol Records purchased United Artists Records in 1978, it obtained the rights to the albums "A Hard Day's Night" and "Let It Be". The soundtrack album for the Beatles first film was released on 26th June, 1964, and remained in the UA catalog through at least 1977. Although Let It Be was pressed with Apple labels, the album was distributed by United Artists. It was released on 18 May, 1970, but remained in the catalog for only a few years. Although Capitol planned on issuing both albums (assigned catalog numbers SW-11921 and SW-11922) on 12th March, 1979, the release of A Hard Day's Night was delayed until 1st August, 1980. |
