When the Beatles recordings were finally
issued on compact disc in 1987, Apple decided to
standardize the Beatles catalog throughout the world. All
albums were issued on compact disc in their original
British configurations.
The albums were remastered, and in some cases remixed, for
the roll out. Capitol decided that in addition to
releasing the British configuration albums on CD, it would
also release these albums in the vinyl record and cassette
formats.
The first seven records were pressed with black labels
with perimeter print in the rainbow colorband. The first
seven albums came with a 2½" pinkish-red sticker stating
"Digitally Remastered from the Original British Catalog"
followed by the album title, catalog number and "Printed
in U.S.A."
