Deutsche Buch-Gemeinschaft: Die Deutsche Buch-Gemeinschaft (DBG) was a book community founded in Berlin in 1924 and mainly appealing to a middle class clientele. After the Second World War, it moved its headquarters to Darmstadt and in 1970 sold a 50 percent stake to Bertelsmann AG, which became its sole owner in 1988 and from then on used the name for its book club business in the new federal states.
