Capitol Records: 1976 Reissue Capitol Orange Label [1976-1978] |
1978#1> |
![]() ![]() |
In October 1972, Capitol replaced its red
target label with a new orange label featuring the Capitol
logo at the bottom. The original orange label retained the
rim text from the previous design, including the T-Rim
patent number. In October 1973, Capitol removed "US PAT NO" and the T-Rim patent number, and adjusted the positioning of the rim text. In September 1975, Capitol introduced a longer rim text containing an "All Rights Reserved" statement. Since Beatles albums continued to be pressed on the Apple label until January 1976, the first two orange label variations were not used for Beatles albums. From 1976, the Beatles LP catalog was reissued on the orange Capitol label with the "All Rights Reserved" statement. This label design remained in use until February 1978. Earlier orange label pressings generally featured "Side 1" and "Side 2" on the right, while later pressings featured large numerals "1" and "2" on the left (to be confirmed). |
| "Rubber Soul (ST-2442)" and "Revolver (ST-2576)" switched to an SW prefix during the orange label run. | |
